招生机制

录取权在系里的 admissions committee，不在单个教授手上；入学时不指定导师，也不需要哪位教授先「买下」你。第一年最多在三个组各做一个季度 rotation，rotation 期间的 50% RAship 由「导师付 25% + 系里付 25%」分担 —— 也就是说接一个一年级学生对教授的经费压力只有一半，这对申请人是结构性利好。真正的关卡不是套磁，而是 (1) SOP 里点名 + 写清技术接口，(2) 推荐信，(3) 录取后 2-4 月的抢导师期。

判断

没有任何系级明文禁止套磁，但两位核心目标（Mirhoseini、Trippel）各自用主页把申请期的邮件窗口关掉了 —— 一位明说申请期不回信、一位明说「录取之后再来」。反面例子也存在：Kayvon Fatahalian 明写 "I'm always looking for students that wish to work on topics like these, or bring their own ideas"，Sara Achour 明写在招 CS/ECE/EE 研究生并公开挂出 rotation 项目。正确打法：(a) 申请表的导师兴趣栏 + research statement 里点名 3-4 位，这是 Mirhoseini 自己指定的动作；

(b) 只对明文欢迎邮件的人（Fatahalian、Achour）在申请期发信；(c) 对 Kozyrakis / Aiken / Kjolstad / Olukotun 这类无明文的人，发一封短的、纯技术的、不要求任何承诺的信是低风险的，但期望值要压低；(d) 真正的高杠杆是推荐信 —— Zhihao Jia 是 Alex Aiken 的博士生，这条谱系链在 Stanford committee 里比任何冷邮件都重；

(e) 2027-02 出结果后立刻按 Trippel 的明文动作发 CV，这一段才是 Stanford 的主战场。

TOEFL

Stanford 全校最低线（gradadmissions.stanford.edu/apply/test-scores，抓取 2026-08-18，A）："Minimum Score for Admission Consideration" = TOEFL 90（2026-01-21 之前考的旧分制）/ 4.5（2026-01-21 起的新分制）/ IELTS 7。没有小分要求。CS 系不另设更高线 —— CS 的 checklist 只写 "For information on the university's minimum TOEFL/IELTS score for admission consideration, visit Test Scores"，而全校页面注脚是 "Each graduate program may set a higher minimum score for admission consideration as appropriate for the specific field of study. Refer to your graduate program's website to check whether it requires a higher minimum score." —— CS 页面上不存在这样的更高线。

✅ 他的 TOEFL 4.5/6（新版）= 恰好达到 Stanford 的最低线。这条线通过。第一轮报告写的「Stanford 博士线 100、他低 10 分、这条线基本不成立」是错的，必须更正。

⚠️ 但有两条真实的附带条件：(1) 入学后强制英语分级考试："Minimum Score for Exemption from Stanford English Placement Test" = TOEFL 109 / 4.5 制下的 5.5 / IELTS 8。他 4.5 低于 5.5，因此 "The English Placement Test is required for incoming students who earned a score below … There are no exceptions to this requirement, even for those who score just below the cutoff." —— 由 ESOL Program 决定是否必须或建议修语言课。

这不影响录取，只影响入学后第一季度的课表。(2) 有效期：Autumn 2027-2028 轮只接受 2024-09-01 之后考的成绩，且必须在申请提交前考完。他的考试日期本文件无记录 → 必须自查；

若早于 2024-09-01，本轮必须重考。

另：Stanford 接受 MyBest scores（"We accept MyBest scores, which combine your highest section scores from all test dates within the last two years"），可以拼分；官方成绩需从 ETS 直送，institution code 4704，不需要 department code。CET-6 与家考一律不认。

若想顺带免掉分级考试，把目标定在新制 5.5 / IELTS 8 而不是「刚过线」。

GRE

不要求且不看。CS FAQ 逐字："GRE scores are not required and not considered from PhD applicants." checklist 亦写 "GRE. These are not required for PhD or MS applicants." 全校页面补充：若项目不看 GRE，"any GRE scores we receive will not be displayed to the admission committee" —— 即交了也不会被看到。不要考。

申请费

$125 USD，信用卡或美国支票账户转账，不可退（"The application fee is $125 and is nonrefundable." / "The application fee of $125 is to be paid in the online application with a credit card."）。免申请费三种通道（GRE Fee Reduction / Program Participation / School-Based Waiver）都要在截止前 10 个工作日提交且在提交申请之前，前两种对中国本科生基本不适用，School-Based Waiver 条件 UNVERIFIED。
