CMU

招生机制

CSD 的录取决定权在 Admissions Committee，不在单个教师手上；导师不是申请前定的，而是入学约一个月后通过「handshake」流程双向匹配。因此套磁在 CMU 改变的不是录取概率，而是「你被谁在委员会里注意到」以及「录取后谁愿意在 handshake 里选你」。

各系口径差异极大，必须逐人对待：Skarlatos 与 Chenyan Xiong 明文欢迎来信；Amvrosiadis 明文给了具体动作（走 ECE 申请 + 在感兴趣教师列表里写他的名字）；Zhihao Jia 明文要求在申请里 mention 他；

而 Sean Welleck 的 L3 Lab 明文禁止申请阶段发邮件，Tianqi Chen 明文说邮件太多通常不回，Daniel Fried 要求递交申请之后再发。⚠️ 「individual faculty members do not make admissions decisions」这句常被引用的原文出自 SCS 博士招生 FAQ 页，该页本次与上一轮两次抓取均为 HTTP 500（见 sources）—— 现有 A 级替代证据是 CSD PhD Handbook 的 handshake 条文与 Tianqi Chen 本人 FAQ 里对 committee-based review 的独立确认。

判断

套磁边际收益 low，但不是零 —— 他的高杠杆资产不是套磁信，是 Zhihao Jia 的推荐信（CSD 在职 AP 对他做过一手观察，且能在信里表达「我愿意收他」，这在 handshake 机制下是直接的资源承诺信号）。执行结论：① 发信只发明文欢迎的三位（Skarlatos、Chenyan Xiong、Amvrosiadis）+ 无禁令的新老师（Olivia Hsu、Tim Dettmers）；② Daniel Fried 留到递交之后；

③ Welleck、Tianqi Chen 一封都不要发；④ Jia 那边不需要套磁，需要的是把暑研做出可写进推荐信的具体产出（暑研 2026-09 结束 → 终批 2026-12-09，中间三个月）；⑤ 申请里勾选感兴趣教师时同时勾 Jia + Skarlatos + Gibbons，这在委员会视角是「方向清晰、多个落点」而非「不专一」。

关于「内部推荐信在委员会里到底值多少」：CMU 没有任何官方页面给出权重，本条为判断（UNVERIFIED），不是引用。

TOEFL

这一条是本档最重要的发现，也是最容易被读错的一条。

（一）SCS（CSD / LTI / MLD / S3D）：没有公布最低分，105-114 是「录取者区间」不是「最低要求」。 SCS 招生页原文把这组数字明确限定为 "most of our admitted applicants" 的 range："TOEFL iBT: 105–114, IELTS: 7–8, Duolingo English Test: 130–155." → 性质是 descriptive（描述已录取者的分布），不是 prescriptive（准入门槛）。两者性质完全不同：前者意味着 90 分不构成自动拒（没有硬线可以卡他），但也意味着他在这个维度上明显位于分布之外，需要材料的其他部分把这块顶回来。

· 同时 SCS 明文不发豁免："We do not issue waivers for non-native speakers of English." CSD 独立复述一遍："The Computer Science Department complies with the language policy set by the School of Computer Science and does not grant language proficiency waivers."· 成绩须在 final deadline（2026-12-09 15:00 EST）前送达。

（二）ECE（College of Engineering）：有明文硬线，且他总分过线。 "The minimum score requirement is a total of 86, with minimum subscores of IBT-R 22, IBT-L 22, IBT-S 20, and IBT-W 22."（IELTS：总 7，R≥6.5 / L≥6.5 / S≥6 / W≥6）→ 他 90 分总分过线。· ⚠️ 但两个问题必须先解决：① 他的四项小分实际值 profile.md 里没有记（只记了总分 4.5/6 = 90），而 ECE 的小分是硬线，22/22/20/22 一项不达标就直接不合格；

② 他的成绩是新版 6 分制，ECE 页面给的是旧版 iBT 30 分制小分，新旧分制换算关系与 ECE 是否接受新版分制均未核实（UNVERIFIED）。

（三）⚠️ profile.md §5 必须改写。 那里写的「英语已过线、不是短板、材料里不要按短板处理」是针对 HKUST 研究生院 80 分线的判断，对 CMU SCS 不成立。不改这一条，后续所有 CMU 材料都会建立在错误前提上。

（四）行动建议（判断）： 他现在在美国（至 2026-09），到终批还有近四个月。在 2026-11 前重考一次 TOEFL，是这一轮性价比最高的单一动作 —— 把一个明显低于录取者区间的硬指标拉进区间，收益大于任何一封套磁信。

GRE

Optional，且明文不吃亏。 CSD 招生页："GRE scores are optional. An application without GRE scores is not at a disadvantage; however, applicants who have taken the GRE are encouraged to submit their scores." 官方成绩须在终批前送达；超过 5 年的分数不接受。

ECE：GRE 对 Fall 2026 / Spring 2027 轮次 optional，明文「without GRE scores will be considered equally for admission along with those who do submit scores」—— Fall 2027 轮的 GRE 政策未在 ECE 页面明文续期，待核。

申请费

SCS：$100/项目，在早批 2026-11-18 15:00 EST 前递交则 $80/项目（原文："The application fee is $100 per program." / "discounted to $80 per program if you apply before the early deadline"）。ECE：$75，一次性不退（"The application fee is a nonrefundable one-time charge of $75."；CMU 学生/校友与 GEM Fellowship 申请者免）。

费用减免信息在网申里选定项目后显示。推荐组合成本：SCS 三个（CSD + LTI + MLD）早批递交 = $240，加 ECE $75，合计 $315。
